On 26 May 2026, partners of the Skills4Sea project met in Barcelona, Spain, for the second transnational project meeting hosted by COMME at the premises of Politechnic University of Barcelona of the Faculty of Nautical Studies. The meeting brought together representatives from all partner organisations to review project progress and coordinate the next implementation phase.

The morning sessions focused on reviewing the achievements of Work Package 2, including the research on non-technical skills, the competency framework, modular training content, pilot testing activities, and validation results. Partners also discussed final refinements and policy recommendations aimed at supporting wider recognition of non-technical maritime competences within the sector.

A key milestone of the meeting was the official launch of Work Package 3, which will focus on developing the Skills4Sea digital assessment platform. Partners reviewed the technical architecture, discussed platform functionalities, and agreed on the next development steps for the web-based and mobile-compatible assessment environment.

The consortium also agreed on task allocations and deadlines for the development of scenario-based assessment modules that will be implemented during the coming months. Discussions concluded with updates on quality assurance processes and dissemination activities to maximise the project's impact across the European maritime education and training community.

The meeting reinforced the partners’ shared commitment to supporting the development and recognition of non-technical skills for current and future maritime professionals across Europe.
